FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Microblading (aka Microstroking, 3D Brows, Feather Stroke Brows, Eyebrow Embroidery) is a form of semi-permanent makeup that provides a client with several mimicked, tiny hair strokes in his or her eyebrow area, resulting in a fuller looking eyebrow. Shading can be added in between the hairstrokes as an option for those who are striving for a natural look with a little more volume and density.
The process consists of the artist manually implanting cosmetic tattoo pigments into the epidermis/beneath the surface of the skin in the eyebrow area by way of a handheld tool and tiny, sterile, disposable, one-time use only needles, to mimic real eyebrow hair strokes. Shading is done with a similar technique using a different style blade, where pigment is stippled in between the hairstrokes.
Powder Brows (aka Ombre Brows) is a form of semi-permanent makeup that provides a client with a soft, ombre-shaded effect, resulting in fuller eyebrows (but make it natural!). Results heal to softly dusted, powder-filled eyebrows.
The process consists of the artist implanting cosmetic tattoo pigments into the epidermis/beneath the surface of the skin in the eyebrow area by way of a machine and a single needle to a 3-needle grouping cartridge (all sterile, disposable, and one-time use needles), to mimic softly dusted, powdered eyebrows.
Yes. Although both techniques are considered "semi-permanent", the reality is that any time that pigment is placed into the skin, regardless of how, it is considered a tattoo. Denying this process as a tattoo could potentially be problematic for those who would, for religious or other personal reasons, normally refuse to have a tattoo.
No! Please don't! If you have existing eyebrow hairs, even if they are minimal, we will work with what you have to produce an end result that you are happy with. The artist will draw out a shape for you, and you will have the opportunity to alter the shape to your choosing. The artist will then ensure the pair's symmetry, and THEN the artist will begin the blading process after you've approved the shape. It is imperative that you do not modify your eyebrows (wax/tweeze/thread) within the 3 days leading up to your appointment. Your regular grooming maintenance can resume after the eyebrows have fully healed.
Any pain and or discomfort would be dependent upon that person's level of sensitivity. A pre-numbing anesthetic is applied before the procedure to ensure maximum comfort, and an additional numbing agent is available as needed throughout the procedure. Every effort will be made to ensure that the client remain as comfortable as possible for the duration of the procedure. Most clients have stated they've felt no pain or discomfort, while others have stated to have mild pain or discomfort. All clients to date have stated that any pain or discomfort, if at all, was bearable.
Each skin type will take differently. It is highly recommended to complete a touch-up session within 6 to 8 weeks of your initial appointment, after the healing is completed. Initially, the color will appear much more vibrant and or darker compared to the end result. Usually within 5 to 7 days, the color will fade 35% - 45%, soften, and look more natural. The pigment is semi- permanent and will fade over time, and may require regular touch ups for maintenance. A second touch up is highly recommended within 6-12 months of your initial appointment, and 6-12 months indefinitely thereafter.
At this time, NO guests or pets are allowed to accompany you at your appointment due to advisories and regulations by the CDC and the county health department. Legally recognized service animals are allowed to accompany you at your appointment.
You must be 18 years or older. A photo ID is required to receive services at Hello Pretty Brows LLC.
As a precaution, Hello Pretty Brows LLC does not perform cosmetic tattooing on pregnant or nursing women.
Microblading and Powder Brows are a form of semi-permanent makeup, generally lasting anywhere between 1-2 years. Several factors affect a person's semi-permanent makeup longevity, including (but not limited to): skin type, pigment selection, lifestyle (sun exposure, smoking, acidic skincare products, etc.), iron deficiency, chemical peels, etc. It is highly recommended to have a 6-8 week touch up done after your initial appointment, and an additional touch up every 6-12 months thereafter, indefinitely, for maintenance.
It is advised to use a face cloth or makeup remover wipes for the first 3 days after your appointment, however you must not touch or get your eyebrows wet for those 3 days after your procedure. Doing so increases your risk of infection and unsatisfactory results. After your appointment, you may gently wash your eyebrows with a mild soap (we recommend Cetaphil, Aveeno, Baby Shampoo, or CeraVie), and you may continue normal washing from thereafter (but be gentle around the eyebrows as they will still be in the healing/skin regenerating phase for the first 2 weeks).

CONTRAINDICATIONS
PREGNANT AND/OR NURSING MOMMIES
Though every possible measure is taken to ensure the prevention of infection and cross-contamination, the risk of infection still looms for any and every client that may be considering a tattoo. Should an infection occur on a pregnant or nursing mother as a result of a microblading or tattoo procedure, the complications that might arise as a result of the infection outweigh the benefits of receiving the procedure itself, as the infection would not only affect the client, but also the client’s fetus/baby. The risks involved simply are just not worth it. Please schedule your appointments once you are done breastfeeding!
DIABETES
Diabetics are at high risk of infection due to the nature of Microblading (where the artist makes several small cuts into the skin to deposit pigment). In addition, diabetic patients are often on blood-thinning medications such as warfarin or coumadin. Because we as tattoo artists are not medical professionals, we have no right to ask any client to discontinue their prescribed medications. It is important for any diabetic patient to have a candid conversation with their physician about whether or not this service is right for you. Patients with type 1 or 2 diabetes unfortunately will be turned away from receiving services at Hello Pretty Brows LLC. Other artists might accept clients with diabetes with a doctor’s clearance.
AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE
This includes, but is not limited to: lupus, celiac disease, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, etc. Unfortunately, the microblading healing process would be compromised by these conditions and by the medications prescribed as a result of these conditions. Patients that are diagnosed with such autoimmune diseases unfortunately will be turned away from receiving services at Hello Pretty Brows LLC. Other artists might accept clients with autoimmune diseases with a doctor’s clearance.
HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, HEART CONDITIONS
It is not recommended for anyone with heart conditions to get any form of permanent makeup done, as doing so would put you at an incredibly high-risk of infection. Those with heart complications are often on medications that thin the blood, which in turn will cause excessive bleeding. As stated earlier, tattoo/microblading artists are not medical professionals, therefore we have no right to ask any client to discontinue their prescribed medications in order to receive our services. Patients with HBP or existing heart conditions/diagnoses unfortunately will be turned away from receiving services at Hello Pretty Brows LLC. Other artists might accept clients with HBP/heart conditions with a doctor’s clearance.
TAKING PRESCRIBED BLOOD THINNING MEDICATIONS
Medications such as warfarin, coumadin, etc, that have been prescribed to you by your physician for a health concern should not be discontinued just to receive services. If you are on regular, prescribed blood thinning medications, you should refrain from receiving any permanent makeup services.
SCHEDULED SURGERY(S) IN THE NEXT MONTH
Pre and post op surgeries almost always require patients to be on a number of medications and antibiotics for an extended amount of time. These medications may disrupt the healing process, leading to discolored and undesired results. Please wait until your surgery(s) are complete and you are through with your pre/post-op medications before scheduling an appointment.
TENDENCY TOWARD KELOIDS OR SCARRING
If you are prone to keloid scarring then you should absolutely avoid any permanent makeup procedure. Artists can not guarantee that you will heal without a keloid scar no matter how light-handed they are in their technique. Clients prone to keloid scarring unfortunately will be turned away from receiving services at Hello Pretty Brows LLC.
ACCUTANE USERS (IN THE LAST YEAR)
Accutane is an oral medication used to treat cystic acne. The medication causes the skin to become incredible fragile, not allowing the skin to receive or heal microblading gracefully. Hello Pretty Brows LLC will only accept clients that have been off of Accutane for a minimum of 1 year.
EXTREMELY OILY &/OR PROBLEMATIC SKIN
This includes complications on the face only, such as extremely oily skin, large, visible pores in the eyebrow area, eczema, psoriasis, keratosis pilaris, dermatitis, chronic acne, and rosacea. Due to the nature of these complications, the risks involved include:
excessive bleeding
higher risk of infection
poorly healed results
blurry healed results
discoloration of pigment during the healing process
skin is unable to retain pigment
Some clients that have extremely oily skin might be better suited for a powder brow as opposed to microblading, should they have no other skin complications. If this applies to you, please email helloprettybrowsnow@gmail.com to initiate a consultation.
ACTIVELY PURSING CHEMOTHERAPY &/OR RADIATION
Cancer patients that are actively pursuing aggressive treatment can not receive Microblading services from Hello Pretty Brows LLC until treatments are complete.
ALLERGIES TO:
LIDOCAINE
EPINEPHRINE
STAINLESS STEEL
Lidocaine & epinephrine are active agents in anesthetics used during our procedures and are inevitable. Our blades and cartridges are made of stainless steel and are also inevitable. Please do not book an appointment if you have allergies to any of the aforementioned, as you will be refused service at Hello Pretty Brows LLC.
